Terry is a retired English teacher and reading specialist with an extensive background in school reform. He spent ten years in a successful effort to transform a traditional junior high school into a model middle school characterized by small communities of learning and integrated instruction.
In addition to adequately funded public education, this site explores a range of public policy issues at the local, national, and international levels that affect the lives of ordinary people. Besides education, Terry is concerned with the environment, with human rights, and with democratic institutions.
Terry would describe himself as a both a progressive pragmatist and as an idealist driven by a sense of moral indignation.
Literature, history, politics, theology, gardening, and a variety of physical pursuits which include, but are not limited to, swimming and biking.
