« Worth reading | Main | Chomsky and Zinn: Vote Obama! »

There is a great deal of difference between teaching reading in PE or math and teaching reading related to a PE or math class. In my experience administrators often get the two confused. And often when they suggest teaching reading throughout the curriculum they mean teach the testing skills throughout the curriculum. To hell with the reading which relates to that specific class. In fact, students who can read relatively close to grade level expand their reading by being exposed to the new vocabularies related to new classes they are taking. A very important concept often overlooked in our test crazed schools.

Towering genius disdains a beaten path. He seeks regions hitherto unexplored.

We always have time enough , if we will but use it aright.
